Eagle is 50!
Yes, you heard that right. The BIG 5-0 for our little city.
On February 26, 1971 Eagle was approved to be a new city by the Ada County Commission.
Even though this city has grown a bit, there are so many things that made it special 50 years ago, that still make people fall in love with it every day.
Some of my favorite things about Eagle are the small town feel and the immense pride of ownership. And, the fun history.
The top picture is Eagle's first bank. It was organized in 1907 (although it didn't move to this location until 1910). It was extremely successful & in the first year, deposits amounted to nearly $30,000. However, it couldn't stand up against the Great Depression and in 1932 it closed its doors. Each depositor received every dollar they had entrusted to it.
The empty building soon became a local watering hole and today is home to daVinci's restaurant. It even still has those arched windows and doors.
I really do love this city of mine. Happy 50th Eagle!
